Make sure you get a comfortable sneaker with with an comfortable outter sole, and with a good grip.
2) Lightweight Clothing for Layering Porto has a moderate climate, but weather can be unpredictable. While the days can be warm, often the nights tend to cool off, especially near the coast. Make sure you bring a good SPF sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun, especially in the summer months! A good sunscreen, can protect your skin from the prolonged sun exposure from an all day excursion. 4) Portable Phone Charger With so much sights, locations and scenery to explore, you will most likely be using your phone a lot for photos, maps for looking around, and researching some of the local information and shops. This can quickly drain your phones battery, and the last thing you want is to run out of juice, when the perfect moment presents itself! Make sure you dont forget to bring a lightweight, compact portable power bank to charge your phone when you need it most! 5) Reusable Water Bottle Walking around Porto, for sightseeing can be dehydrating, especially on warmer days. Going on hikes, exploring historic monuments, or just traversing through one of the many neighborhoods, can be a good workout, especially on warmer days. Its important to bring a water bottle not only to stay hydrated, but to also eliminate plastic waste, while saving money on your trip. Make sure you bring a lightweight, refillable water bottle with you, just to make sure. The tap water in Porto is safe to drink, and provides opportunities to refill your lightweight water bottle whenever its needed!
6) Sunglasses
Exploring a new city is really exciting, and Porto is a city full of historic scenery, locations, and beautiful views. Its important to also take care of your eyes while traveling with a good pair of sunglasses, that can reduce the suns glare. Especially in the summer months, the sun can be stronger and cause eye strain which can overstimulate your eyes. There are plenty of stylish sunglasses that can fit your style, but make sure they are coated to reduce the harsh strain from the sun!
For those of you who travel often, quickly remember that not all countries have the same electrical receptacles. Forgetting to bring the proper power adapter, means that you wont be able to plug in, use, or charge your electronics! While traveling in Portugal, you can rely on the Type C, and Type F plugs, which will work with the standard voltage of the 230V thats available in Portugal. If you are just going to travel to portugal, you can get away with a Type C/F plug, but if you will be doing a lot of traveling to many countries, we suggest to get a universal worldwide travel adapter to eliminate the possibility of accidentally bring the wrong adapter!
While traveling in Porto, you will find many cafes or restaurants, but you still may want to keep some snacks on hand while sightseeing. If you are between sights, on a cruise, or visiting a vineyard, you may get hungry or need energy to keep you going. You have the option of getting Healthy Snacks if you want to keep an eye on what you are eating, or you can get High Energy Snacks, to give you that quick boost you are looking for! 10) Small Backpack or Crossbody Bag
Knowing exactly what to bring with you when sightseeing, can be overwhelming as you don't know what to expect, especially if its your first time visiting any location. You of course need to consider your essentials, but "what ifs" can and always happen! Its important to find a well made practical backpack to not only carry those essentials, but to be able to bring anything else you can carry "just in case". Its important to also make sure your backpack or bag has a secure means of closure.
